Difference between Mobile Broadband and 3G Broadband
May 12th, 2011Mobile broadband is a very widely used technology in the current market. In mobile broadband, internet can be accessed using USB modems. Mobile broadband also includes the access of internet through data cards and inbuilt broadband modems. These USB modems are inserted into the USB port of the computer or laptop and it is powered internally by the USB port. A SIM card is inserted in the USB modem and this helps to connect to the nearby base station to access the data in a similar fashion to a mobile phone. Nowadays, there are several technologies available such as 2G, 2.5G, 3G and 4G which helps in improving the speed of the data transfer. These technologies are adopted by different service provider for the comfort of the users. The cost of these service provided varies according to the technology which is provided to the users. Almost, all the service providers are providing mobile broadband facility as it is comparatively cheaper to the 3G technology.
3G Broadband:
3G is the third generation mobile broadband technology which has gained its momentum in the recent days as it has redefined the ways of accessing the internet. The third generation technology generally offers good speed and moreover this technology is even embedded in some of the recent mobile phone models. The third generation (3G) technology is the combination of several technological specifications such as HSDPA, CDMA, HSPA and EDGE. This 3G broadband technology is the next stage of 2.5G which offers seamless transfer speed of 1 Mbps to 14.4 Mbps. Amidst its popularity, only limited network providers offers this technology in UK. Advancement is an inevitable phenomenon and this 3G technology is no way an exception in this regard. 3G will see its next leap by the end of 2012 in the form of 4G technology. Contrastingly, 3G technology is costlier when compared to mobile broadband.
Thus both the technologies have their own advantages. Both can be embodied in a single hand held mobile phones.
