Broadband Security Is Like Home Security Which Is Always Monitoring, never resting. Broadband Security is basic to everyone so as to continue
enjoying and using the digital age. Broadband Security is for the prevention and detection of unauthorized users to the computer and/or the
network. This is a prevention measure which prevents intruders from accessing any part of the computer system. Broadband Security is important
because computers are used from banking and investing to shopping and communicating with others through email or chat programs. Even if the
information is not top secret, strangers reading private email can be a cause for alarm. These intruders will be able to attack your systems,
forge email or look for any personal information and that includes financial statements.
What ISPs can do is they can offer protection from spam but it cannot totally shield the computer from every intrusion. So the responsibility
of Broadband Security is with the owner just like with home security.
In order for the user to understand the importance of Broadband Security. It is important for the user to know about the two types of risks
and attacks on the computer system: One is external, the hackers come via the internet while connected. They will look for the weakest part of
the system and start probing for any computer data files. If they become successful, they will have access to the files and operating system. The
seriousness wil all depend on the data that you have on the computer. So if you have your bank information, personal letters, etc. This could all
be privy to the intruder. The second type of risk is internal wherein the intruder attacks the normal functions of the internet to be able to
penetrate the system. An example of this, which is also the most common is, a hacker sends an email with an attachment. If the user clicks on the
attachment, the attached program will be installed in the computer. This mysterious program can now access information stored in the computer.
This information is sent back to the intruder.
Broadband Security prevents intruders to hacking the computer which they use for the following purpose:
launching attacks to government or high profiled financial systems. Intruders can reformat your computer so all the data in your
hard drive will be lost aside from using all your financial data for possible fraud.
Broadband Security does not come with the Internet Service Provider as the home does not come with the Home
Security.
